حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَابْنُ، نُمَيْرٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَارِثَةَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ تَصَدَّقُوا فَيُوشِكُ الرَّجُلُ يَمْشِي بِصَدَقَتِهِ فَيَقُولُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيَهَا لَوْ جِئْتَنَا بِهَا بِالأَمْسِ قَبِلْتُهَا فَأَمَّا الآنَ فَلاَ حَاجَةَ لِي بِهَا ‏.‏ فَلاَ يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Give Sadaqa for a time is about to come when a person would walk with alms and the one whom it is to be given would say: Had you brought it yesterday, I would have accepted it. For the present I do not need it. (And the giver of Sadaqa) I would not find anyone to accept it.

Your prophet (May peace be upon him) said : Every good act is a SADAQAH (almsgiving).

الخامس والعشرون‏:‏ عن أبي موس رضي الله عنه ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال‏:‏ ‏"‏على كل مسلم صدقة‏"‏ قال ‏:‏ أرأيت إن لم يجد‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ أرأيت إن لم يستطع‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏"‏يعين ذا الحاجة الملهوف‏"‏ قال‏:‏ أرأيت إن لم يستطع‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏"‏يأمر بالمعروف أو الخير‏"‏ قال ‏:‏ أرأيت إن لم يفعل‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ يمسك عن الشر فإنها صدقة‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏.‏

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Giving in charity is an obligation upon every Muslim". It was said (to him): "What about one who does not find (the means) to do so?" He (ﷺ) said, "Let him work with his hands, thus doing benefit to himself and give in charity." It was said to him: "What if he does not have (the means) to do so?" He (ﷺ) said, "Then let him assist the needy, the aggrieved." It was said: "What about if he cannot even do this?" He (ﷺ) said, "Then he should enjoin good." He was asked: "What if he cannot do that?" He (the Prophet (ﷺ)) said, "He should then abstain from evil, for verily, that is a charity from him".[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

It is good if you disclose your charitable expenditures, but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it’s better for you and will erase some of your misdeeds. God is fully aware of what you do.

O you who believe, when you wish to have a private conversation with the Messenger, precede your private consultation with a charity. This is better and purer for you. However, if you lack the means, God is Forgiving and Merciful.

الَّذينَ يَلمِزونَ المُطَّوِّعينَ مِنَ المُؤمِنينَ فِي الصَّدَقاتِ وَالَّذينَ لا يَجِدونَ إِلّا جُهدَهُم فَيَسخَرونَ مِنهُم ۙ سَخِرَ اللَّهُ مِنهُم وَلَهُم عَذابٌ أَليمٌ

Those who criticize the believers who willingly give out in charity, and ridicule those who find nothing to give except their own efforts, God will ridicule them, and they will have a painful punishment.

لَيسَ عَلَيكَ هُداهُم وَلـٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهدي مَن يَشاءُ ۗ وَما تُنفِقوا مِن خَيرٍ فَلِأَنفُسِكُم ۚ وَما تُنفِقونَ إِلَّا ابتِغاءَ وَجهِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَما تُنفِقوا مِن خَيرٍ يُوَفَّ إِلَيكُم وَأَنتُم لا تُظلَمونَ

Their guidance isn’t your responsibility, but God guides whom He wills. What you spend of good is for yourselves. All acts of charity should be done seeking God’s favor. Whatever good you give will be returned to you in full, and you won’t be wronged.

إِنَّ المُصَّدِّقينَ وَالمُصَّدِّقاتِ وَأَقرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرضًا حَسَنًا يُضاعَفُ لَهُم وَلَهُم أَجرٌ كَريمٌ

The charitable men and women who lend to God a good loan: it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a generous reward.

The charities are for the poor, the needy, its administrators, for reconciling hearts, for the freeing of slaves, for those in debt, for God’s cause, and for the homeless. This is a decree from God, and God is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

Those who perform prayer, give purifying charity, and are certain of the Hereafter.

For the poor who are restrained in God’s path, unable to work in the land. The ignorant person thinks, because of their modesty, that they are free from want. You can identify them by their marks. They don’t ask people persistently. Whatever good you give, God is fully aware of it.

Every act of goodness is sadaqa.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ، وَابْنُ، حُجْرٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ - عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ وَمَا زَادَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا بِعَفْوٍ إِلاَّ عِزًّا وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلاَّ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ، - قَالَ ابْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، - حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُوسَى بْنَ طَلْحَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ حَكِيمَ بْنَ حِزَامٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ - أَوْ خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ - عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ ‏"‏‏.‏

The most excellent Sadaqa or the best of Sadaqa is that after giving which the (giver) remains rich and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin from the members of your household.

I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "Give in charity because there will come a time on the people when a person will go out with his alms from place to place but will not find anybody to accept it."
