بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ وَالضُّحىٰ

By the late morning light.

وَاللَّيلِ إِذا سَجىٰ

And by the night as it settles.

ما وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَما قَلىٰ

Your Lord didn’t abandon you, nor is He displeased.

وَلَلآخِرَةُ خَيرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الأولىٰ

The Hereafter is better for you than the First.

وَلَسَوفَ يُعطيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرضىٰ

And your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.

أَلَم يَجِدكَ يَتيمًا فَآوىٰ

Didn’t He find you an orphan, and He provided a home?

وَوَجَدَكَ ضالًّا فَهَدىٰ

And He found you lost, and He offered guidance?

وَوَجَدَكَ عائِلًا فَأَغنىٰ

And He found you in need, and He granted sufficiency?

فَأَمَّا اليَتيمَ فَلا تَقهَر

Therefore, don’t treat the orphan with harshness.

وَأَمَّا السّائِلَ فَلا تَنهَر

And don’t repulse the one who asks.

وَأَمّا بِنِعمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّث

But speak of the blessings of your Lord.
